CSIO Athlete of the Month

Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is delighted to recognize eight high performance Team Ontario cyclists – Dylan Bibic, Nicole Bradbury, Madison Dempster, Daniel Gregory, James Hedgcock, Carson Mattern, Tyler Rorke, and Andrew Scott as the OHPSI Athletes of the Month. These athletes had outstanding performances at the 2019 Canadian U17/U19 Track Championships held at the Milton Velodrome from April 12-14, 2019.
The eight athletes won numerous gold medals in individual and team events and set four Canadian Records. Team Ontario won gold in 6 of the 8 team events. The Championships also saw Ontario athletes win at total of 63 medals, including 25 gold.
Through the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI), these athletes and other Team Ontario cyclists receive sport science and sport medicine support from CSIO including mental performance consultations with Dr. Rolf Wagschal, performance nutrition support via Kevin Iwasa - Madge, strength and conditioning with Greg Lewandowski and sport science testing from Will George.
The OHPSI program provides targeted investment to the Ontario Cycling Association in the areas of Coaching and Technical Leadership, Competition and Training, as well as Sport Science and Sport Medicine. CSIO High Performance Athlete Development Advisor, James Brough, works closely with OCA’s High Performance Manager, Michael Suraci and Lead Coach, Joseph Veloce to develop a comprehensive support plan to assist targeted athletes as they progress through the performance pathway.
