Within this program, Skate Ontario devises a plan to enhance support to athletes progressing along the athlete development pathway. The intent of the integrated sport science and sport medicine plan developed for skating is to increase athlete availably to train and compete by managing varying demands across multiple domains.
During the 2018-19 season Ontario athletes received varying levels of support from multiple practitioners including:
Health and Wellness Monitoring (Meghan Buttle, Therapist, CSIO; Elton Fernandez, Physiologist, CSIO)
Pre-Habilitation Programs and Therapy Treatments (Meghan Buttle, Therapist, CSIO)
Mental Performance (Dr. J Goss)
Performance Nutrition (Christine St. Claire and Melissa Kazan, Dietitians, CSIO).
Performance Medicals (Dr. Dilkas, Dr. Coros, Dr. Richards, Dr. Kraft)
