What will happen to coaches completing diploma requirements or level 4 tasks?

The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) has announced a sunset date for the completion of the Multi-sport tasks. For coaches to complete all old Levels 4 or 5 multi-sport (generic) tasks requirements, the deadline is December 31, 2015.

The sunset date for delivery of Levels 4 and 5 sport-specific tasks will be December 31, 2016. After that point, coaches can engage in their sport’s Competition – Development Advanced Gradation or Competition – High performance context; however, they will be required to gain approval from their respective national sport organization and adhere to all revised program policies.

If you have already completed some Level 4/5 Tasks and wish to complete the remaining tasks please contact us at coaching@csiontario.ca as soon as possible.

First, coaches should take comfort in the fact that pre-existing NCCP qualifications are still valid and recognized accreditation. Simply because programs evolve does not mean that one’s qualifications are permanently erased.

Second, CSIO recognizes the effort and commitment demonstrated by coaches currently engaged in Level 4 tasks. Hence it is important that these coaches are provided the necessary support to complete their Level 4 tasks within designated timelines and based on current requirements. For those coaches that are part way through the program, we have completed a mapping exercise from old to new and new to old to ensure that all areas of learning are covered in their course delivery. While content will be delivered in the new format, some of the task assignments will be as they were in the previous delivery model. Please contact CSIO at coaching@csiontario.ca if you have particular questions as to how this applies to you.
