Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is pleased to recognize Women’s U18 Curling Team, Team Croisier as the Athletes of the Month. Team Croisier won Gold in Women’s Curling at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta in March 2019.
Based out of Sudbury, Team Croisier is comprised of Bella Croisier, Jamie Smith, Lauren Rajala, Piper Croisier, and coached by Shawn Croisier. Representing Ontario at the 2019 Canada Winter Games, the team went 9-1 in pool play before advancing straight to the semi-finals. A close 6-5 win over Nova Scotia in the semis led to the Gold Medal game, with Team Croisier winning 8-3 over Manitoba.
On April 7th, Team Croisier won the U18 Girls National Curling Championships, becoming the first team to win both Canada Games and the National Curling Championship in the same season.
The team began working with CSIO through the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI) program in Spring 2018 where they have received mental performance support via Dr. Rolf Wagschal, performance nutrition support via Christine St. Clair and Melissa Kazan, and physical testing and programming support via Andrew Cochran. The team has also received coaching/technical leadership support through the OHPSI program.
