Call for Nominations - CSIO Board of Directors

mercredi, 6 décembre, 2017

What is Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO)?
The Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is a non-profit incorporated organization committed to providing a world-leading multi-sport daily training environment for athletes, coaches, and practitioners through expert leadership, services and programs. The purpose of CSIO is to help athletes and coaches win medals for Canada.

The CSIO first came into existence in the fall of 1998, known as the National Sport Centre Toronto, and began offering services and programs early in the Greater Toronto Area. The Centre grew rapidly, and established an effective delivery system through its service provider network. In 2002, the centre changed its name to the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario and expanded its provision of services across Ontario.

In 2009, Toronto won the right to host the 2015 Pan/Parapan Am Games and the main high performance legacy from the Games was the commitment to build a facility based sport institute. The CSIO opened its doors at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in August 2014, at the Milton Velodrome in 2015.

The CSIO is a member of a network of seven sport institutes/centres across Canada known as the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN). COPSIN provides a centralized, co-ordinated delivery of personal and professional services to help athletes succeed both on and off the playing field.

CSIO›s programs and services are delivered through the generous support of our funding partners; Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, Sport Canada, Canadian Olympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, Own the Podium and the Coaching Association of Canada.

How is the Board of Directors structured?
The board by-laws consist of up to 8 directors selected in the following manner:

a) Nominations for the position as Director will be solicited by the Nomination and Selection Committee beginning in December 2017.

b) Upon receipt of all nominations, the Nominations and Selection Committee will short-list nominees and conduct a review of the nominee’s qualifications, the required skills and attributes listed in the new CSIO Bylaws, potential conflict of interests or other significant matters which would preclude the nominee from successfully fulfilling the duties of a Director. Information about nominees will be confidential and will not be disclosed for purposes outside the selection of CSIO Directors.

c) The Nominations and Selection Committee, upon a majority vote, will select two Directors. One to hold office for a two-year term, and the second Director to hold office for a three-year term.
